Display Port Adapters and Cables

Display Port adapters are often found on Apple, Dell/Alienware, HP, Lenovo, Fujitsu, Toshiba and Acer products. Display Port was introduced to replace VGA and DVI connections. It has been eclipsed by the more widespread HDMI standard. Both Display Port and HDMI can pass a Full HD video signal and multiple audio formats between compatible sources and displays. There are subtle differences which don't affect the majority of end users. For example Display Port does not support CEC signals like HDMI does. CEC signals allow for up to 10 devices connected via HDMI to be controlled by a single remote. Many manufacturers are in the process of phasing out VGA and DVI in favor of HDMI and/or Display Port.
